FAQ 025: Can you use Windows Authentication in Dream Report for SQL database connections?

Yes, Dream Report supports Windows authentication.  If you’re ever prompted for a login in a communication driver, DSN, etc., if you leave Username/Password fields blank, Dream Report will then use the currently logged in user’s Windows credentials.

Note:  If Dream Report is set to run as a Windows service, you need to go into the Dream Report “RTM Reporting Runtime Manager” (in Windows Services) and under the “Log On” tab, change “Log on as:” to a specific Windows user account which has the necessary rights to the SQL database.  If you leave the Dream Report service to run under the Local System Account, chances are, that account won’t have access rights to SQL Server.
